Dr. Larry Montgomery, Sr., is the former publisher of the largest circulating weekly African American community newspaper on Long Island, New York the “Community Journal”. Dr. Montgomery, Sr. now lives in Geogia, retired, married 50 plus years with four loving children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Dr. Montgomery is a former member of Glory Temple Ministries, Inc., Massapequa, New York where under the Pastorship of Senior Pastor Apostle Bishop Ronnie Deadwyler and Executive Pastor Apostle Bishop Dr. Karen Deadwyler, who in obedience to the Father planted the seed of “Scribe” on his heart. Since that moment, Montgomery has penned over 100 novels and Bible Study Guides including twelve (12) of the Lord’s parables under the cover of the life and times of a fictional character named U.S. Marshal Harry Bailey, in the Parables of Life series.

Dr. Montgomery has written over 100 fictional novels including; “The Game of Your Life”, “The Way Station”, “Beyond the Way Station Part II-To Hell for the Holidays”, “The Way Station Part III-‘The Day After Life’”, “2-1-1 Emergency”, “Clinical Trials” and a Special Anniversary Edition of U.S. Marshal Harry Bailey entitled: “The CORPORATE KILLINGS” and the Case of the “Deadly Mailman”.

Dr. Larry Montgomery, Sr., is a former publisher of the Community Journal, which was once the largest circulating weekly African American community newspaper on Long Island. Now retired and residing in Georgia, Dr. Montgomery has been married for over 50 years. He is the proud father of four loving children, grandfather to eight grandchildren, and great-grandfather to three.

Since retiring, Dr. Montgomery has become a prolific author, having written over 100 novels spanning multiple genres, including Christianity, Crime and Investigation, Mystery, Sci-Fi, and the Occult. Some of his most recognized titles include The Game of Your Life, The Way Station, Beyond the Way Station Part II – To Hell for the Holidays, The Way Station Part III – The Day After Life, 2-1-1 Emergency, Clinical Trials, and a Special Anniversary Edition of U.S. Marshal Harry Bailey titled The Corporate Killings and The Case of the Deadly Mailman, Evil and Sin, and The Contestant. Dr. Montgomery is currently the Managing Consultant at Montgomery Business Consultant, a small business financial and management consulting firm. With over 30 years of experience as a private financial and business management consultant, he brings extensive expertise in strategic planning, project management, financial analysis, time management, organizational development, and marketing—across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

He is also the creator of two online educational programs: the School for Child Care Governance and the School for Non-Profit Leadership, available through Udemy and Teachable. These self-paced courses provide training on board member responsibilities and child care leadership.

Highly proficient in technology, Dr. Montgomery has a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing, Excel, and PowerPoint, among other tools.

His financial career spanned 17 years, where he gained broad experience in both operational and corporate environments within the commercial and savings banking industries. He managed loan portfolios of up to $50 million, covering approximately 40 active demand and borrowing account relationships, each requiring restructuring, auditing, collections, client service, and product development. He has approved or recommended a wide variety of credit facilities including SBA loans, lease financing, lines of credit, secured/unsecured working capital loans, and long-term commercial mortgages.

In addition, he held a managerial role at FedEx, where he started as a part-time package handler and quickly advanced to On-Road Manager overseeing a team of 30 employees. Earlier, he managed the credit and loan administration department of a commercial bank, leading a staff of eight and developing the institution’s first lending training program for retail bank branch managers. He also served as an assistant branch manager, responsible for branch operations, customer service, teller staff, and all cash management activities.

Dr. Montgomery holds an Associate’s Degree in African American History from Nassau Community College (Garden City, NY), a BBA and MBA in Banking, Finance, and Investment from Hofstra University (Hempstead, NY), and a Doctoral Degree in Divinity from North Central Theological Seminary in Petersburg, Florida. He is a Vietnam Era U.S. Air Force veteran.

He has taught as an adjunct professor at The College of New Rochelle (Bronx campus) from 1999 to 2004, instructing courses in Small Business Management. In 2018, he taught New Media Communications and Introduction to the Stock Market. Since 2019, he has been teaching Introduction to Public Administration. He has also developed and instructed small business courses through Hofstra University’s Adult Education Program and taught economics at Nassau Community College.

A licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel through Glory Temple Ministries, Inc. in New York, Dr. Montgomery is also a self-published author of over 15 Christian study guides and 110 secular fiction books.

He is the former host of Crossing Bridges Talk Show, a weekly podcast that addressed the issue of fatherlessness in the U.S. The show was re-broadcast on YouTube via the African American Shopping Network Channel. He now hosts Walking By Faith, a podcast available on YouTube and other major podcast platforms including Riverside.fm.
